Snake seller on Mangga Besar Street in Jakarta, Indonesia's Kota area! This girl drank the blood down like nothing. The cost is about 40,000rp to 50,000rp. I didn't try the snake, but this same snake seller had a restaurant right across the street called Rumah Makan Manado, which is famous for spicier food, where he made me some amazing mixed vegetables for 2 nights in a row. He makes amazing food. This is Jakarta!!! Everyone likes to mention Obama to me, since I am American. He grew up in this city for a few years, and all are proud of that.

While prostitution is technically illegal in Indonesia and immoral in the eyes of many of its people, the sex trade continues to flourish in Indonesia, especially in the capital Jakarta. Jakarta, officially known as the Special Capital Region of Jakarta (Indonesian: Daerah Khusus Ibu Kota Jakarta), is the capital and largest city of Indonesia, and one of the most populous urban agglomerations in the world. Located on the northwest coast of Java, Jakarta is the country's economic, cultural and political centre, and with a population of 9,761,407. It is the most populous city in Indonesia and in Southeast Asia. The official metropolitan area, known as Jabodetabek (a name formed by combining the initial syllables of Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi), is the second largest in the world, yet the metropolis's suburbs still continue beyond it.
Correspondent Jamal found a tour guide in Jakarta who found a niche in the market for himself: he guides tourists through the cities slums. The tourists get to see a part of Jakarta they would normally never see, and the local population gets to make some money. vpro Metropolis was a video project by Dutch broadcast organisation vpro, that ran from 2008 to 2015. Metropolis is made by a global collective of young filmmakers and TV producers, reporting on remarkable stories from their own country/city. We made a trip around the globe on one single issue: from local beauty ideals to Elvis impersonators, to what's it like being gay, or an outcast or a dog in different cultures. ►Check out 50 of the Best Indonesian Dishes: https://migrationology.com/indonesian-food/ Glodok is the Chinatown of Jakarta, and my wife and I decided to spend the day walking around Glodok and exploring some Indonesian street food throughout the day. At the end of the day, we also stopped by Fatahillah Square, with is an old Dutch square in colonial Jakarta, where you'll find some interesting buildings and some street food snacks as well. Since we were staying at a hotel (here’s information on the hotel I stayed at:https://migrationology.com/travel-guides/jakarta-indonesia/) not too far from Glodok, we decided to beat the traffic and just walk over there. It didn’t take more than 15 minutes to walk, and soon we arrived in Jakarta’s Chinatown. Glodok is a very interesting area to walk a...

The National Development Planning Ministry has claimed Indonesia will be "slum-free" by 2019.Poor sanitation and a severe lack of education among the residents have made the slum areas (over 30,000 hectares across the country) a breeding ground for some of the nation's deadliest diseases. While the state is confident that it would be capable of tackling the necessary infrastructure projects, convincing the slum-dwellers is another thing.CCTV's Andy Saputra filed this report from Jakarta.
►Jakarta Travel Guide for Food Lovers: http://migrationology.com/travel-guides/jakarta-indonesia/ A couple years before I started ever making food and travel videos, I visited Indonesia, and it was one of the most amazing places, both in terms of food, natural scenery, and people, that I have ever visited. And I always knew I needed to come back again to visit Indonesia, this time with my camera. We only had a couple weeks, so rather than try to rush from one place to another (although I’d love to visit many more islands and cities throughout Indonesia), for this trip, my wife and I just decided to spend our time in Jakarta to really get a feel for the city and its amazing blend of food. We started off at Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport, the budget airline airport, where you’l...
This is our first family trip to Sepa Island, part of Kepulauan Seribu near Jakarta. It took 2-hour boat ride to get to the island. And who would have guessed that you can find pristine beach with clear turqoise water in Jakarta area? We really enjoyed spending the days on the beach from morning to sunset, snorkeling all day long, feeding the hungry fishes, and relaxing on the soft sandy beach. All we can say is that Sepa Island is truly Jakarta's hidden paradise! Music: Wish You Were Here by THE.MADPIX.PROJECT
